Queen Lili‘uokalani was the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i.  Learn more. Her personal home, Washington Place, is a National Historic Landmark and later became the executive mansion for the governors. It is now a museum and site for events of state. Queen Lili‘uokalani is also associated with Iolani Palace, which was the seat of power during the monarchy and was where the overthrow occurred. The queen was under house arrest in the palace in 1893.
